Frequently Asked
Questions
We know choosing the right dance studio is an important decision. Here are answers to questions our dance families ask most.

Children can begin dancing at Jill Mallory Studio of Dance as young as 2 years old. Our youngest dancers are introduced to music and movement in a fun, nurturing environment designed especially for their age. As they grow, classes gradually introduce more structure, technique and dance fundamentals.
Not at all. We welcome dancers of all experience levels, from children stepping into a dance studio for the very first time to experienced dancers looking to continue their training. Our teachers work with each student at their individual level, helping them build skills, confidence and a strong foundation while progressing at a pace that is right for them.
Absolutely. We want both you and your child to feel comfortable before making a commitment. A free trial class gives your child the opportunity to meet the teacher, experience the class and get a feel for Jill Mallory Studio of Dance. It is also a wonderful way for us to make sure we have placed your child in the class that is right for them.
Dance attire and shoes vary depending on the type of class your child is taking. Once your child is placed in a class, we will let you know exactly what they will need. If you are new to dance and are not sure what to purchase, do not worry—we will be happy to guide you.
We do not offer competitive dance programs. Our focus is on providing exceptional dance education in a supportive, encouraging environment where every student has the opportunity to grow. Rather than preparing for competitions, our dancers spend their time building strong technique, developing artistry, gaining confidence, and enjoying the experience of dance. We believe this approach allows students to learn at their own pace while fostering a lifelong love of dance.
You do not have to figure that out on your own. Give us a call and we will talk with you about your child’s age, previous dance experience and interests. Because every dancer is different, we prefer to personally help families find the class and level where their child will be most comfortable and successful.
Jill Mallory Studio of Dance offers a variety of classes for different ages and levels, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, acrobatics and private lessons. Students can explore different styles as they grow and discover the areas of dance they enjoy most.
Class length varies depending on the dancer’s age, level and type of class. Younger dancers generally begin with shorter classes appropriate for their age and attention span, while older and more advanced dancers may have longer classes and training. We will help you understand what to expect when we recommend the appropriate class for your child.
Yes. Our recital gives dancers the opportunity to share what they have learned throughout the year with their family and friends. Performing on stage is an exciting part of the dance experience and gives students a wonderful sense of accomplishment while helping them develop confidence, stage presence and lasting memories with their dance family.
We understand that children occasionally need to miss class because of illness, school activities, family commitments or other circumstances. Please contact the studio when your child will be absent. When appropriate, we will let you know whether a suitable make-up class is available.
Getting started is easy. Call us at 305-238-7961 and we will help you every step of the way. Rather than expecting parents to sort through a complicated schedule on their own, we will talk with you about your child’s age, experience and interests and help you find the class that is the best fit.
